Valorant Comms, Macro, and Round Economy Strategies for Act 4
Two players with identical aim will achieve vastly different ranks based on how they communicate and manage round economy. These are core skills our roster focuses on, and they can be significantly improved within a week. Here's a framework to elevate your gameplay for Act 4 and beyond.
Comms: Short, Useful, Non-Emotional Calls
Bad comm: 'They're A again, what the hell.' Good comm: 'Two A, one with op, no util used.' Effective calls include three parts: count, location, and state (e.g., alive, current utility, depleted health). Avoid adding reactions, blame, or unnecessary commentary.
If a teammate becomes toxic or tilted in voice chat, consider muting them to maintain focus. Tilted comms are detrimental to rounds, and you are not obligated to explain your decision to mute. Prioritizing clear, calm information enhances team decision-making.
Round Economy: The Four States for Act 4
Full buy (3900+ credits): Purchase rifle, full shields, and essential utility. Force buy (2000-3000 credits): Opt for a rifle without shields, or a shotgun with shields. Eco (under 2000 credits): Use pistols only and save credits for the next round.
Bonus round (2400-3700 credits): This is nuanced. If losing 0-2, we generally recommend buying to challenge the enemy economy. If winning, it's often better to save for a stronger full buy in the subsequent round. The biggest solo queue error is full-buying with 3400 credits after a 0-2 start. This usually leads to losing the buy, losing the round, and being financially devastated at 0-3. If you can't afford a full buy on round three, eco it. A single pistol round upset can completely reset your economy.
When to Force in Act 4
Force when the opposing team is low on credits (1900-2400), as a successful force from your side will cripple their next round economy. You might also force if your team has 2000-3000 credits, even without shields, or if you can commit four players to one site with economy weapons like a Bucky or Sheriff to overwhelm them.
Do not force if you can save and achieve a full buy in the following round with 4500+ credits. Similarly, if you are significantly behind, for example, 8-3 down, forcing might not be the best strategy; saving to bleed the enemy economy and reset for later rounds can be more effective.
Mid-Round Calls for Dynamic Plays
Default for the first 30 seconds of the round, then commit to a plan. The most frustrating solo queue rounds are when the clock ticks from 1:00 to 0:20 to 0:05 and the team is still indecisive. The player who first identifies a numerical advantage (e.g., 4v3, 3v2) should make a decisive call: 'Hit B now, three of us.'
Even a suboptimal call followed by a committed, coordinated execute is far more effective than five players hesitating in spawn. Decisiveness and team commitment are paramount for converting mid-round opportunities into round wins.
Post-Plant Discipline and Execution
After planting the spike, fall back to established post-plant default positions and hold strong angles. It is crucial to avoid chasing defuse attempts. Do not overextend to pressure lurkers or search for trades.
The mathematics of post-plant situations heavily favor holding angles. Even with three players alive, a reckless chase often results in unfavorable trades compared to maintaining disciplined crossfire angles. Maintaining discipline ensures round victories in these critical moments.
Stack Roles for Enhanced Rank Progression
A duo where one player consistently makes calls and the other focuses on entry fragging offers a significant advantage, potentially adding 50-80 MMR compared to solo queuing. You do not need a full five-stack to achieve this synergy.
