Valorant crosshair, sensitivity, and settings for Act 4 climb

7 min read·Updated 2026-06-24

There is no single 'correct' Valorant crosshair or sens, but there are objectively wrong ones. This guide provides a framework for optimal settings, plus specific defaults that ZenithBoosts' roster recommends for a quick climb in Act 4.

Sensitivity: lower than you think

Aim for an effective DPI between 200 and 400 (DPI × in-game sens = eDPI). Tenz runs ~280, Aspas ~250, Demon1 ~320. If your eDPI is above 500, you are almost certainly oversensing, which makes micro-adjustments on long peeks impossible. Lowering your sensitivity can significantly improve your precision.

If you're coming from a high-sens game like Apex Legends or Overwatch, we recommend dropping your sens by 30% immediately. Play 20 deathmatches before forming an opinion. The first hour might feel broken, but by hour three, you'll likely find it preferable and never want to revert.

Crosshair: thin, static, no outline

A solid climb-tier crosshair for Act 4 will have a color like cyan or yellow. Keep the outline off, or use a 1px black outline if you prefer. Ensure the center dot is off. For inner lines, use the 1x4x2x3 configuration. Crucially, turn off both movement error and firing error.

Disabling movement and firing error ensures your crosshair accurately shows your gun's TRUE spray pattern, rather than a misleading visualized recoil. While outline-on crosshairs may feel safer, they visually thicken your point of aim. Most pros run outline off because they require precise pixel information.

Video settings: framerate over clarity

Maximize your performance by setting all graphics to low. Use anisotropic filtering at 1x and anti-aliasing off, or MSAA 2x if your GPU has headroom. Material, texture, detail, and UI quality should all be set to low to minimize visual clutter and maximize frames.

Crucially, turn off bloom, distortion, cast shadows, and first-person shadows. These settings can obstruct enemy silhouettes, giving opponents an unfair advantage. Cap your FPS at a stable number your GPU can consistently maintain without dips. A locked 240 FPS is superior to a fluctuating 280-350 FPS, as input lag spikes with every frame drop.

Audio: footsteps over voice

Optimize your audio for competitive advantage. Set your in-game master volume to 50, voice chat to 40, and sound effects to 100. The biggest free RR gain you can achieve is through superior footstep awareness; many Gold/Platinum players miss crucial flank cues because their game audio is obscured.

Always use headphones, not speakers. Ensure HRTF is enabled. Utilize the audio settings menu's 'positional audio' test to confirm you can accurately pinpoint vertical sound. If you struggle with this, your headphones might not be sealed properly, affecting sound staging.

Understanding MMR in Competitive Act 4

With Act 4 beginning, expect a soft reset to your Rank Rating (RR) and hidden Matchmaking Rating (MMR). Your first few games will have a significant impact on your initial placement and subsequent RR gains/losses. Maintaining a positive win-loss ratio in these initial matches is crucial for climbing.

Focus on consistent performance and impactful plays rather than just KDA. Commendations and agent-specific achievements also contribute to your MMR gain. We've observed that players who adapt early to the new patch meta tend to see faster and more sustained climbs.

Settings won't carry you

While optimizing these settings may provide a 5-10% improvement in your existing skill, they are not a substitute for practice. If your aim is holding you back, dedicated time in deathmatch and Aim Lab is the solution, not simply changing your crosshair color.

Configuring your settings is a one-day project. Developing exceptional aim requires a long-term commitment, often a 6-month endeavor or more. We emphasize that consistent training and game sense development are paramount for sustainable climbing.
